Labeling Options
Label Sample
Marking your items using your personal Tag ID depends on the
type of item and what you have
available. You
do not need special labels to use FOUND
io. In fact, the simpler the better! Whether hand-written or printed, every label should have a minimum of the
FOUNDio.com website and your
Tag ID. Extra text to help a Finder understand what to do is always helpful.
Option 1 - If you do NOT have a printer.
- Hand written - Sometimes simpler is better. You can easily hand write your "labels" inside your kids school books or on any item that can be permanently marked. Simply write clearly inside the front cover "If found, please notify me at FOUNDio.com TagID: YOURTAGID Thanks!".
- Use Masking or Freezer tape - For items that need to be labeled but cannot be marked with a permanent marker, use the same hand-written method on masking or (better) freezer tape. You don't always need fancy labels and this method works great for electronic items if you don't have a printer.
Option 2 - If you have a printer but NOT Microsoft Word.
Now you are moving into the professional label maker category! Go in with a couple of friends and buy a pack of
FULL SHEET (not individual labels) adhesive stock (shown at right) from
Office Depot,
Staples or Amazon.
Use our online
Label Generator to create a full page of colorful labels. You can choose background and text colors; just make sure the text is legible so a Finder will be able to read it. Print the page of labels, cut out the sizes you need and apply them to your items. Easy!
You can also just print out your labels on plain paper if you do not have the special Avery labels. Cut them out and apply with scotch tape. It's simple and will work just as well!
Option 3 - If you have a printer AND Microsoft Word.
If you have Microsoft Word, you can use our Label Templates to generate professional looking labels. The templates support two different label sizes. We recommend the "medium" labels (
Avery #8160) for most applications. These are generally stocked at both
Office Depot and
Staples.
Single TAG ID Label Templates for MS-Word
Use these templates to create many labels for one specific Tag ID. Choose medium size (recommended) or small. Open the Link file using Microsoft Word and then Find and Replace the MYTAGID text with YOUR Tag ID. If you change the background and/or text color, make sure there is enough contrast to read the labels clearly.
BLANK Label Templates for MS-Word
Use these templates to create many BLANK labels that you can use to give to friends or family. Choose medium size (recommended) or small. Open the Link file using Microsoft Word and simply print as is. If you change the background and/or text color, make sure there is enough contrast to read the labels clearly.
Option 4 - Are you an NAPO member?.
We have a special
#NAPOconnect campaign specially designed for National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) members. It's a great way to reconnect with past clients for free AND drum up new business.
Check it out.
